Colorado Adds First Dedicated In-State Processor for HDPE Lubricant and Automotive Packaging

• News

Through its Oilpkup HDPE Division, Janus Enterprises LLC has become Colorado’s first processor dedicated specifically to HDPE lubricant and automotive packaging.

As Interchange 360’s service provider network continues to grow in Colorado, we are pleased to welcome Oilpkup HDPE Division as a registered processing partner. Based in Canon City, Oilpkup will accept containers collected from across the state for responsible processing and recycling.

Interchange 360’s Colorado program is the first sector-specific, industry-led Extended Producer Responsibility program for petroleum and automotive product containers operating in the United States. Launched in March 2026 under an approved Individual Program Plan, it provides a dedicated pathway for collecting and recycling empty automotive containers, including motor oil, antifreeze and diesel exhaust fluid containers, automotive aerosol products and other petroleum-related packaging.

“Adding Oilpkup HDPE Division to our Colorado network is an important step in building practical, reliable recycling infrastructure for lubricant and automotive packaging,” said Shelly Fuller, Director of Operations for Interchange 360. “These materials require specialized handling, and partnerships like this help ensure they are managed responsibly from collection through processing.”

“We’re proud to be part of Interchange 360’s Colorado program and to support a recycling solution for automotive containers that need a dedicated approach,” said Robert Esser, Janus Enterprises. “As a Colorado-based family business, we’re excited to help expand responsible processing options for communities, producers and service providers across the state.”

Adding Janus to the network increases in-state processing capacity for containers collected through the program and brings local expertise to the work of moving material from collection through recycling. The program is funded by producers of petroleum and automotive products, not taxpayers, helping build a system where these materials are collected, processed and ultimately recycled.
