Data Collection: The First Step in Reporting
• NewsOnce you’ve determined your obligations under Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), the next step is ensuring accurate and timely reporting. For producers participating in the LPMA powered by Interchange 360 program, submitting detailed reports is not just a regulatory formality—it’s the foundation for calculating fair and transparent EPR fees.
Producers are required to report the quantities of covered materials distributed in each applicable state. These reports play a critical role in establishing your financial contributions to the EPR system and ensuring your compliance under state laws.
Registering with LPMA by signing the relevant state Participant Agreements is the first step. Following that, Producers should review the guidance available on the Producer Resource Center page on our website and begin gathering relevant data.
Not sure where to start? Follow these best practices:
Assign responsibility: Designate a person or team to manage your EPR reporting obligations.
Gather supply data: Choose a method to collect accurate baseline data for covered materials, such as sales volumes and packaging weights.
Identify key details: Your report should include:
- Type of covered materials distributed
- Sales volumes by state
- Associated brands and trademarks
- Any affiliated or third-party producers also participating
Submit through LPMA powered by Interchange 360: Once complete, remittance reports should be submitted using the tools and timelines provided on the LPMA powered by Interchange 360 website.
Although state requirements may vary, this structured process ensures that your business is positioned for compliance and avoids delays or costly corrections later on.
Remittance reports and payment are due from Producers to LPMA on a monthly basis. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don’t hesitate to contact us at memberservices@interchange360.com.
