Maryland

In April 2025, Maryland passed an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law targeting packaging materials. The bill requires producers to reduce packaging waste, fund collection programs, and report annually on materials sold and recovered in the state and is managed by the Maryland Department of Environment (MDE).
Complying with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) begins with collecting data related to product distribution in each state and material specifications on packaging and we have created a Producer Guidance Document that can help you with this process. You can find that document, along with other relevant information, on the Producers page.
Producer Registration
If you are a producer selling products on our Applicable Products List into Maryland, we encourage you to sign the Maryland Participation Agreement and return it to memberservices@interchange360.com as soon as possible. There are no fees or reporting requirements until Interchange 360 is approved as a compliance option in the state.
