On the Road, In the Room, Making Connections

Colorado
CEO David Lawes (L) and Director of Membership Services, Mark Carpenter (R) at the 2025 Product Stewardship Forum in Chicago.

2025 has been a year of momentum and meaningful engagement for LPMA. As we continue building program plans across several states, we’ve also been developing new resources to support producer compliance and streamline reporting. But our work hasn’t stopped at the office.

Over the past several months, LPMA staff have been actively participating in key industry events across the country. These gatherings have given us the opportunity to connect directly with government officials, producers, retailers, and other stakeholders who are navigating the complexities of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).

We understand that EPR comes with a steep learning curve—especially since regulations vary from state to state. That’s why we’re committed to being a trusted resource for the petroleum, lubricants, and automotive sectors. Our goal is to help producers, distributors and retailers not only meet compliance requirements but also embrace circularity and sustainability in their operations.

At each of these events, we’ve had meaningful conversations with many stakeholders and learned a lot about the evolving landscape of EPR implementation, especially how different sectors are adapting to new requirements. These gatherings have reinforced the importance of collaboration, education, and outreach—whether it’s helping a small business understand its obligations or working with state agencies to align goals and timelines.
