Outreach Toolkit

If you are a trade association, consultant, stakeholder, or use distributors in the petroleum and automotive products value chain, LPMA powered by Interchange 360 has assembled a number of resources to assist in communicating the need for producers to comply with state Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) by registering as soon as possible.

With Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) laws being passed in states around the country that include compliance requirements for producers of petroleum and automotive products, the industry joined forces last year and formed its own Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO), LPMA powered by Interchange 360.

Currently, LPMA powered by Interchange 360 is active in California, Colorado, Oregon, and Vermont, with plans to expand to any state that implement compliance requirements for the petroleum and automotive products industry. Any producer that sells products on the Applicable Products List should register with LPMA powered by Interchange 360 for each state in which they sell.  

Reporting and fees payments are already under way, but it is not too late to get started. Beginning immediately, producers need to: 

  1. Determine if they are obligated under any state laws, and for which products. 
  1. Register with LPMA powered by Interchange 360 in states where they sell products on the Applicable Products List by completing the Participation Agreement for each state. 
  1. Identifying the personnel that will be responsible for reporting and compliance obligations. 
  1. Establishing Supply Chain Agreements with distributors and others in the supply chain to clearly establish who is responsible for reporting data and ensure there is not over/under reporting. 
  1. Start collecting and reporting data on the volume of products sold by category in each state to LPMA powered by Interchange 360 on a monthly basis. 
  1. Pay planning and implementation fees monthly to LPMA powered by Interchange 360 for each state.
